About

Psychology of Family and Education is an academic journal on psychology that is open to the interdisciplinary look and that combines the issues of educational and developmental psychology and deliberations on the culture of social life, values and transformations of the present. As a semiannual journal, it will be published twice a year, in fall and in spring, in print (reference version) and electronic formats. It will keep the same design from issue to issue.

In the first part – Psychological Papers – which is regarded as the core of the journal, we will publish scientific articles on educational psychology (theoretical works, survey and critical works, and original empirical works) by Polish and foreign authors.

The second part of each issue – Cultural and Social Contexts of Education – will be devoted to ideas concerning education from the perspective of related disciplines, such as philosophy, cultural studies, religious studies, anthropology, biology, sociology, pedagogy or history.

The third part – Issues in Psychological Practice – is an obvious reference to the journal’s tradition. At a time of such important and controversial transformations in the functioning of the family, in preschool education and in the educational system, we hope that this section will become a forum for exchange of ideas among psychologists, educators and social activists. We will also expect interesting texts concerning psychological assessment (new methods and problems) and psychological support in the area of education from practitioners.

Due to its long, more than 10 years’ absence from the publishing market, the first few issues of renewed Psychology of Family and Education will feature the reprints of academic articles that are important to the issues of education and instruction and that – according to the Editorial Staff – should reach out to a wider circle of psychologists and educators through the pages of the journal. This section – introduced for a definite period of time – is called A Lost Decade.

The last part of each issue – Events, Polemics and Reviews – is designated for reports on current important academic and social enterprises and reviews.

A new section – Youth Forum – will be introduced in subsequent issues of the journal (so as not to only theorize forming only but to actually form as well), in which shorter research works by young scholars, winners of interacademic student contests, scientific circles and doctoral students will be presented.
