Policy on the use of artificial intelligence tools
1. An author submitting a manuscript may use AI tools during the preparation of the text. However, the author remains fully responsible for the content of the publication, including the verification and accuracy of content generated with the use of digital tools, as well as the reliability of sources used in preparing the manuscript.
2. AI tools do not have legal status or the capacity to hold or grant copyright. AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of a publication. Authorship is attributed exclusively to individuals who meet the substantive criteria for authorship and who assume responsibility for the content created.
3. The submitting author declares that the submitted work does not infringe the copyrights, legal rights, or material interests of any third parties within the meaning of the Act of 4 February 1994 on Copyright and Related Rights (Journal of Laws No. 24, item 83, as amended), including ownership rights to the content submitted to the journal and related to the use of AI tools in its creation.
4. The author must not use any AI technology that would restrict their own rights, the rights of the journal, or the rights of any other party to use the publication. This also includes ensuring that the AI tools used and their providers do not acquire any rights to the content of the submitted publication, including the right to use such content for training AI systems.
5. An author using AI tools is fully responsible for the accuracy and reliability of the content presented in the manuscript, including statements, quotations, and bibliographic references. Before including AI-generated content in a publication, the author must verify its compliance with current knowledge and research findings and ensure adherence to publication ethics principles.
6. Authors are required to disclose the use of AI tools in the creation of a publication, including the purpose for which such tools were used. If AI tools were used to prepare any part of the manuscript, this use must be described in a transparent and detailed manner, particularly in the case of generative AI systems (GenAI). The author must explain in the monograph or scientific article (e.g., in footnotes or in a methodology section) the manner and scope of the use of AI generators.
7. Tools used solely for spelling, grammar correction, and general language editing are not covered by the AI disclosure requirements described above.
8. The IJPINT journal permits authors to use AI-generated content during manuscript preparation in the following areas of support:
a. development of the theoretical concept of the work (in particular, assistance in searching for literature or other sources of knowledge necessary for conceptual work);
b. linguistic and stylistic editing (including language and grammar correction, and improving the clarity and style of the text in the author’s native language and foreign languages);
c. translation of texts;
d. creation of graphic materials and text visualizations (including illustrations, graphs, charts, and supporting diagrams based on the author’s instructions);
e. creation of alternative text for illustrations and graphic materials in order to improve accessibility for the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities.
9. AI tools must not be used for:
a. generating scientific text without substantive control and editing by the author;
b. making independent substantive decisions without human verification.
10. The author is responsible for all ethical and legal violations that may result from the improper use of generative AI tools in the manuscript submitted to the journal.
11. The journal monitors submitted manuscripts using AI detection tools.
12. AI detection is used to assess whether artificial intelligence has been applied in submitted manuscripts in a manner inconsistent with the principles governing the appropriate use of AI adopted by the Maria Grzegorzewska University.
13. The final decision on whether the use of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools is acceptable in a manuscript submitted for publication rests with the Editor-in-Chief or another person designated by the Editor-in-Chief as responsible for the journal’s editorial policy.
